Our Favourite Sailors

Here at Nautica, our passion is the sea and all things sailing. We have decided to take the opportunity to pool together a selection of our favourite sailors. Taking to the sea, these individuals embody what we feel passionately about at Nautica… the sea, sailing and all things water.

 Montel Jordan

Being given Youngest Sailor of the Year in 2018, Montel Jordan, who was seventeen at the time of his crowning, takes the offshore life seriously, constantly jet setting around the globe in his boat.

Montel has taken part in Project Scaramouche, a project making sailing a more accessible sport to women, young people, and those from different socioeconomic backgrounds. Montel’s behind the scenes activity with this project made many young people’s sailing dreams come true, making him a true icon in the sailing world.

 Katie McCabe

Katie McCabe, crowned Youngest British Sailor in 2021, is a fourteen-year-old girl record-breaker who embarked on a 14,000-mile sailing adventure to become the youngest person who sailed solo around Britain. Her 26ft wooden yacht, Falanda, who she travelled around Britain on, was built with the help of her dad in 2019. Falanda was her ‘project boat’ and made her sailing journey possible.

 Murdoch McGregor

Murdoch McGregor is an inspiring British sailor, who set sail for the first time 10 years ago, at the age of 72. After 10 years of sailing, Murdoch embarked on a 1900-mile solo voyage that made him the oldest person to circumnavigate Britain, at the age of 82. Murdoch inspires through not only his remarkable sailing adventures, but also through his fundraising for Mental Health UK. He says, “while it will be a truly amazing sailing adventure for me, more importantly I am raising funds and awareness of mental health issues for the charity Mental Health UK.” Due to his incredible achievements, Murdoch was announced as sailor of the year in 2021.  BACK TO ALL ARTICLES
