World Water Monitoring Day

World Water Monitoring Day

The 18th September marks World Water Monitoring Day, a day to grow the awareness and importance of protecting our water resources and teaching more people about the extent of water pollution. Water is essential to everybody on the planet and we require it to exist. So, it is our job to protect it and maintain our healthy water resources.

At Nautica, our brand is centred around water and the sea and this is shown through the designs of our collections. We have spotlighted Water Monitoring Day, to help raise awareness for the importance of protecting our water quality.

We take pride in our water-themed collections, and in addition to this, we would like to raise awareness of the importance of water quality monitoring to improve health.

Why is it important?

Water quality monitoring has many positives. Everyone should help to improve and maintain our water quality for our general health and environmental health. The reasons include:

  • To help the environment
  • To protect our general health by monitoring the water we put in our bodies
  • Develops an awareness of pollution and water quality.

It has been reported that 460 million litres of water are wasted a year in the UK! That is an astonishing water and together, we can all do something about it.

What you can do to help

There are a range of ways that you can help support and improve our water quality. For example:

    • Use a testing kit that can be found at your local hardware store and take water samples to test your water quality.
    • Take the time to learn about pollution, water quality and the dangers it can have to your health. Learn about the chemical danger in water, and by testing it you can prevent putting these chemicals in your body.
    • Limit the amount of water you waste - have showers instead of baths, only fill the kettle as much as you need to and instead of throwing any wasted water down the sink, water your plants with it! These small things can make a difference to the environment.

Thank you for reading, and we hope that this has given you some inspiration to monitor the water you are using, and help protect our planet. Don't forget to follow our Instagram @nauticaeu for the latest information about Nautica.
