This month we got to know a bit more about a beautiful UK family, known as 'UK Travel Family'. They picked out some of their favourite Nautica kids pieces for their summer family holiday in Madeira. Ready to take on their summer holiday dressed head to toe in Nautica, we caught up with them about all things family, travel & summer!
Please tell us a little bit about your family?
Our family consists of myself (32), Cassius, nearly 9, and little Ivy “4 and a half” as she has proudly been telling everybody - although she's 5 in June! We are a very active family, always doing outdoor activities, we visit the gym regularly, swim, love the library and spend lots of our time at the pebbly beach during the summer months since we're lucky enough to reside in sunny Brighton. We're very creative - both kids love painting, drawing and making! Cassius loves reading and writing stories and I guess you could say I'm quite the creative mum too - photography, writing and all of the fun jobs that pop up for me keep me busy and entertained for sure!
What made you pick your Nautica pieces?
I’ve always been a fan of the nautical style, it’s a total classic and will always be a strong staple of many wardrobes….the pieces I picked for Cassius are the typical nautical style I'd choose for his wardrobe (he did select a few utterly funky shorts) and similar to styles he's worn over the years….polos, chino shorts, oxford cotton shirts….wonderful smart/casual pieces that are both comfortable and smart for kids - ideal for a holiday or family day out.
What is your favourite Nautica piece you chose and how would you style it?
Dom Short Sleeve Shirt - Dark Navy - will go well with white and beige. I will pair this with a plain white tee under the shirt, beige chino shorts or trousers and a brown pair of deck shoes - timeless outfit for a smart growing boy!
What’s your favourite thing about the Spring/Summer season?
I look forward to the lighter nights and warmer weather, being able to sit in the garden in the evenings, and visit the beach until it gets dark! The seasonal smells in the air and the happiness on everyone else's faces just because it’s such a beautiful day…..don’t get me wrong I love winter, but I'm a summer girl at heart!
Where is your favourite place you have travelled to for your summer holidays?
Always Thailand, we have done lots of SE Asia, and other countries but hands down Thailand.
Top 3 travel essentials?
- Books - A must for when the kids have worn themselves out and I can get some quiet me time!
- Sunglasses - I have THE most sensitive eyes!
- A toy or comfort for each of the kids…we have to travel light so I limit this, Ivy will usually go for a blanket or one of the ‘girls’ (a doll haha!) and Cass probably his sketch pad and pens.
